KitchenAid Mixer - Shredded Chicken

I was always looking forward to getting married so I could put a KitchenAid Stand Mixer on my registry, it felt like a rite of passage specifically for newlyweds to receive one and proudly display in their home together. Obviously, picking the right color was super important but that’s a convo for a different day although I obviously went with matte black. Now, I’m not a huge baker but I knew it would come in handy somehow somewhere. As my new husband and I got accustomed to living in Orange County and eating at home more often, I was desperate to re-create one of my favorite salads from Comoncy in Beverly Hills. This particular salad requires shredded chicken so on several occasions, we have bought rotisserie chickens from different grocery stores to recreate it but I’ve been disappointed with the taste and the fact that it only lasted 2 meals max for us. I figured that there has to be a better way and I came across a recipe that said using your KitchenAid Mixer could not just shred chicken but it could do it in less than 20 seconds. Consider me sold. The last thing I want to do is cook a ton of chicken and sit there shredding it by hand, especially after typing on the computer all day long at work.

The steps are laid out for you below - its so easy, I can do it with my eyes closed! Thank Goodness for this magical machine and all of the ease and time its brought back into my life. As for the actual chicken breast recipe, you can go to my post here that lays out the entire process - it takes less than 20 minutes!

  1. Grab the paddle attachment (its the white paddle that has a few cutouts on the inside)

  2. Attach it to your KitchenAid Mixer, toss your freshly cooked chicken into the respective KitchenAid bowl and secure it into the stand by twisting it into place.

  3. Bring the mixer head down and make sure you lock it into place by pulling the lever on the right side of the mixer head.

  4. Turn on the mixer on low, going up to the 2nd speed and let it shred your chicken away.

  5. After 12-15 seconds or until its shredded to your liking, turn the mixer off. Unlock the mixer head, pull it up and gently remove your bowl to feast your eyes and mouth on freshly shredded chicken.
